Covering the Cape, Cotuit, 2010

You can usually count on Cotuit to have pretty good up the middle guys with a focus on speed and defense.

Michael Faulkner, OF (Arkansas State)

Absolute left-handed burner, gutty and smart ballplayer, hits 1 or 9, good base runner, limited arm, power, enough BP bat speed to get a shot at pro ball.

Mike Yastrzemski, OF (Vanderbilt)

No doubt he can swing the bat, and I didn’t need Peter Gammons to tell me so. Grew a little taller from spring to summer. Very firm front and should eventually have a pro body. Did not see him play in a game, this time.

Deven Marrero, SS (Arizona State)

Arm strength, field ability and run speed grade as best tools, solid average contact. Very good shortstop body, has actions that play there, liked him much more with wood than I did with metal. Chance to be solid pro at short.

Chad Wright, OF (Kentucky)

Not one above-average tool; not one significantly below average tool. This guy has just enough to hang around the game for a number of years, but it will be up to him to milk the most out of it. Has a chance to be a very solid grinder.

Curt Casali, C (Vanderbilt)

Average defensive catcher, big body, slow actions, limited offense.

Taylor Black, INF, (Kentucky)

Not a very flashy tools guy but a solid, smart plugger.

Zach Cone, OF (Georgia)

Did not see.
